We have arrived in Union Glacier Camp. My first words when we landed in Antarctica were... "I'm in Antarctica (with great excitement)... I'm home (with a deep sense of calm and knowing). The 2nd part just came out without thinking. Which is strange and beautiful, considering I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time here in the next couple of years. The place is unreal. I feel so privileged to be here and to experience all of this. We experienced some pretty intense winds last night. Antarctica is already showing us her power and it's awe inspiring to bear witness to it. We spent today getting 38 days worth of food bags ready for the journey. We still have a couple of days worth of prep work to do. Then we just have to wait for another clear weather window to fly to the other end of Antarctica for the start of our climb up the Axel Heiberg glacier. Tomorrow we get back to preparing our rations, sleds, tents, stoves, and anything else we need for the expedition...
