I did the most epic thing ever today :) This morning we finished testing our stoves, putting the skins on our skis and packed the sled. We are now 100% ready to go, but... Weather is not looking good for at least the next day or two. So we're standing by and waiting. With the afternoon off, I decided to go out onto the 10k loop again. This time with my skis and the sled. I can't express in words how happy I am to be dragging a sled instead of those 2 fucking tires :) I loaded up my sled with not just everything we're carrying up the glacier, but I put in my 2 cache bags as well with 20 days worth of food. Those 2 bags will be waiting for us up on the polar plateau once we get up the Axel Heiberg. But I figured that extra weight would be good for my training right now. It was a warm, sunny and beautiful day. Like a dumbass though, I forgot to bring food or water since I thought it was just a quick training session. But 2.5+ hours later, I felt it a bit :) Never stopped smiling though. For most of the time, I was listening to just the sounds of Antarctica and was alone in my head. But then, suddenly I was hit by, what can only be described as a stroke of genius... I've done some pretty cool things in my life, but this took my cool factor to the stratosphere :) For the last half an hour I was rocking out to 80's power ballads while skiing in freaking Antarctica. If that's not legendary, I don't know what is :) Thankfully Antarctica is pretty silent and there was no one else around. So I could go all out without subjecting any human being to that display or scarring some penguin for life :) It was good times! Even though we're just waiting around now, every day is still a beautiful opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest. Loving this adventure!
